Cannings played their first league game of 2015 yesterday and managed a five wicket win over Corsham 3. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, Harry Easton and Rory McQuaid-in his first league game for the club- produced a solid opening spell. Garreth Robb then came on and took four wickets, backed up well by Graham Mansell’s tricky swing bowling. However Corsham were allowed to score more runs than they should have in the final overs to end up on 141-9.
Cannings started their innings in typically steady fashion through the Mansell brothers before some expansive shots from Matt Tilley took them over the line in 35 overs. It was a decent if unspectacular team performance, but we are pleased to just take a win on a cold and windy opening day.
